We Shake Shake Shake the Hips: Balder is build much along the same lines as his sister, Thora. He has a strong, wedge-shaped head that has a keen, happy expression burned into it. His ears are tall and pointed and set a little forward on his head. His muzzle is clean and straight, tapering evenly. His shoulders are very muscular – as is the rest of his body – with a full chest and powerful legs. His tail is tightly curled and carried high up over his back when he isn’t wagging it in pleasure.

Comparing Myself to Everyone Else Around Me:
Balder is very pampered and spoiled – he gets the best treatment a show dog could have. Despite this, he is never snooty nor does he brag about his purebred lineage. This dog is well mannered and genteel and has an uncanny ability to be downright charming. Balder is a stubborn dog, a side effect of him always getting his way, and he usually won't take no for an answer. And it's no matter of pouting or throwing a hissy fit. This dog is much too mature for that. He will simply charm, compliment, and sweet-talk his victim until he gets what he desires.
Despite all that, he is still a gentleman. Balder would never dream of harming a female or forcing her to do anything. Who said chivalry was a dying concept? He is extremely naive and quick to trust - it's a wonder he still walks the streets today. Balder is very personable and can make even the most high-strung and vicious dogs calm in his presence.
Are We Growing Up, or Just Going Down?:
Balder was born to Odin and Freya in a small Norwegian Elkhound breeder’s home. He was the second of the litter, consisting of himself, Thora, and Sif. Balder was the ideal pup for his breed. He was friendly and active. The breeders fell in love with him and elected him for the next show dog after his parents. Sif was another exceptional dog. She had a beautiful coat and a sweet, but calm, temperament. It was determined she would be sold to a loving home. Thora was an exception. Before her personality even came into place, she was deemed unfit because of her single sooty paw. No matter, the humans decided, we have at least one good pup.
Balder was pampered and treated just a little bit better than his siblings. He got slightly nice toys (not that he noticed too much because Thora would steal them), more food, a softer bed... even their parents seemed to love the male just a little more.
The first traumatic experience in the young dog's life was the departing of his siblings. Balder loved his family to death and it broke his heart to see them leave. Especially Thora - the man she was sold to looked less than trustworthy. He keened for them at nights until he grew more mature and realized his crying wasn't going to bring them back. The distraction of learning to be a showdog was helpful as well.
The elk hound was only ever entered in one show before the attacks on the city. It was an average performance, but he made a strong impression on the judges as an up-and-coming show dog. His breeders were beyond thrilled. It was short-lived, as stated before, and the young elk hound's life took a turn for the worse.
Balder's whole life was show business. With his parents and breeders now gone, there was nothing left for him. So he's spent the while wandering... well, moping around the city looking for a purpose. And his sisters.
Can Talk My Way Out of Anything: His voice is gentle and deep - like what one might expect from a finely raised southern gentleman minus the accent.
We Don't Fight Fair: (3/10) Balder has never fought another dog in his life. It’s hard to fight with him too. The male is too sweet and friendly to irk many beings.
Get Me Outta My Mind: (8/10) Balder is a very intelligent dog. His vocabulary is very extensive for his age and he is infallibly proper to every dog he meets. The elk hound is good at problem solving as well.
This Has Been Said So Many Times...: He wants more than anything to repent to his older sister for the actions of his breeders.
