A hot wind blasted past a stocky figure. It held itself with a supreme degree of confidence, dignity, and looked out upon the world with disdain. The strays around here were so unorganized. The elk hound was surprised to find such an expanse of territory left unguarded.
It was not exactaly ideal territory. Within the thick of the city, is was far from the forest and far from the prey that resided in its branches. Great, concrete towers loomed overhead, putting up a foreboding air. What had crumbled to the ground was scarred with deep furrows. What the Thora saw, however, was a great, promised land for a strong pack. The buildings offered unrivaled protection from other dogs and the fallen giants could serve for countless dens. It was near a river for water as well.
The elk hound was pleased. She jumped gracefully to the top of a fallen wall. The elevation was great enough she could see for miles in all directions. A quick peer down and she saw a swirling pack of ethereal dogs swarming in the clearing. They raised their head to Thora in homage: Alphess of The Cracked. A toothy smile cracked her black maw. A ray of sunlight broke though the cloud cover and glinted off the elk hound's collar studs. She tipped her head back and howled. The note was loud and clear - beautiful, in fact - and it conveyed one message:
This is my land now.
