"Coda, here," she said to Nymph. She ostensibly skirted around the "cuties" comment, not sure if it was out of embarrassment or flattery that she avoided the word.
She motioned her head towards Jiro, "That one hasn't introduced himself to me yet... Been too busy sulking."
Coda set her forepaws on the windowsill and leaned out, still quite curious about the view. She hadn't seen this much of the city in one look before, having had it all obstructed and limited by being on the ground-level since she'd arrived. It was good to make a mental map of her new home - she could learn all the roads, building, and alleys that cross-hatched the city, which would make any offence or defence of her new little world that much easier. It was, after all, always good to know your surroundings.
The wind whooshed past her head, it being much gustier higher up without the looming shields of buildings along every edge of the perimeter, and Coda enjoyed the breeze. It was refreshing, and it cooled her heated temper from the fight with Jiro. That was, of course, until the other dog spoke again.
Coda pushed away from the window, her fur mussed by the wind, and faced the Retriever, "I surely wouldn't just abandon you," Coda scoffed. "You're too irritating to leave as-is in this world... You might depress more passers-by, and an epidemic of melancholy would break out over the entire city, and I would feel guilty for having done nothing to stop it, so, no, I'm not leaving you - you're sticking with me whether you like it or not, and I'm getting rid of that overhanging grey cloud that follows you round everywhere you go, if it's the last thing I do."

Nymph's face was lit up by another toothy crooked grin. She refrained from pointing out that Coda seemed like a male name and said "This city's already got an outbreak of melancholy," her voice was evenly neutral, not sounding particularly upset. Just rather factual. "How else does one end up in a city like this without some sob-story behind them?" she laughed lightly, watching the expressions of the other two dogs.
"So," she continued "What is your name?" she jabbed a paw in the direction of the huffy retriever, tail swaying as the breeze picked up. She still stood relatively close to the window, finding herself thoroughly amused by Coda's fascination with the city. She seemed to have a childlike curiosity, something most of the depressed city tenants had lost in fights, along with bits of flesh and their ears.
Nymph was smiling more genuinely now, also having fallen silent to listen to the younger dogs continue talking about feelings and such.

Jiro snorted some. "Oh? so your only helping me because you fear I'll start some kinda bad chain reaction?" glaring at Coda before looking away. "And my name is Jiro..." he would say, almost shyly. He would move closer to the window aswell now, but wasn't very curious about it. Why would he? it's outside, out in the open and in view for anyone to see. He would be more curious if it was some kinda basement or a dungeon or something creepy looking.
Jiro's reddish fur fluffing up slightly with the wind blowing through the window, patches of dirt and mud and oh god there was even a fleas and tics in some places. He really need a bath and a good hard scrubbing! Tho like most dogs he didn't like baths much, probly cause he fears someone might try to drown him but who knows, he never really looks at himself and wonder why he feels this way, just that he does and doesn't care why.

She stood and shook her head to make her fur lie flat, the action moving from her head, all the way down her body, and ending at the tip of her tail in the curious rotating motion that only a dog could ever correctly produce. It did its job, though - her fur was just as flat and tamed as it'd been before she'd stuck her head out the window, though a few wisps floated up as a breeze made its way through from outside.
"If I'm helping you, what's it matter what my motives are - so long as they're genuine?" Coda asked. "It isn't as if I'm trying to change you into a mindless minion sent to enact my nefarious schemes on the world... I don't have any nefarious schemes... I'm just trying to knock some of the sense that you obviously lack into you, and if the rest of the world gains benefit from that, so be it."

Jiro would snort to her, quickly feeling insulted. "What do you mean by that? 'knock some of the sense that I lack.' I'll have you know that most canines live the same way as I do, clinging to the shadow and being depressed." Snorting more to her and poking her side with his nose. "Not all are the same as you, if everyone was the same it would be stupid!" he says to her while poking her again with his nose and continuing to say "Try it for yourself, you might find you actually live better alone. No having to hunt for others, no having to share, no fighting. It's paradise!"
Or atleast to him it was paradise. He turns to the other canine out the window again before looking away, not wanting to talk with anyone more than he had to. That and wouldn't unless Coda told him to, then he might think about it somewhat.

Coda huffed, "Yes, most dogs are like you. Right. Then it must just be a fluke that I've met three dogs so far in this town, and you're the only one like you? The law of averages says that you are the minority here. Most others reach a new place and start over in life - especially a place like this, which is more of a 'paradise' than any skulking around in the shadows could be." She stepped up to the window again, and once again her fur was ruffled by the breeze.
"I mean, there are no humans here. Without humans, a dog's life should be nothing but bliss. Just running around and hunting and, yeah, you might have to fight another dog at some point but for now... For now it's peaceful."
Coda looked pointedly at Jiro, "That's paradise. Peace is paradise, forgetting all your worries is paradise - not sticking to the shadows and being a depression on your own personality... You really need to learn the concept of 'new beginning', Jiro - you'd really benefit from it."

Jiro looks away from her, snorting and shaking his head slightly while saying "You just don't understand." when it was he who really didn't understand, for sticking to the shadows and being depressed was his life, he didn't know how to live any other way, so it was all new to him. He never will admit it, but he was kinda glad Coda was here... Kinda, very small, not much.
"You can never trustfully be in paradise, for it never lasts long. There are no humans now, but what if they come back? they will slaughter us, kill us all. They could come back a month from now, a week, maybe even tomarrow! How would we know unless we smell them which by that time it will be too late!" Really wasn't much of the point they were fighting about, but he had to say something! He didn't like being proven wrong. He was a very sore loser indeed.

ooc: -Thinks of Wolfs Rain- Lol.
Nymph took the chance to interrupt "It's been four years," she said, having been there much of the time herself "And no humans have been here." she shrugged and continued "I'm not really sure if this place is a paradise, I've spent winter nights lying full-bellied by a fire. I've also spent winter nights starving curled up on the pavement." she left out the part were she spent nights lying on cold metal floors with horrible burns on her skin. She didn't want to traumatize the poor whelps.
Nymph yawned, her thin muzzle stretching open and exposing ridges of chipped, but mostly glossy white teeth. In several places her teeth seemed to have started to disintegrate. Her gums were torn up and scarred. No part of her body had been left untested on. "Some of the happiest moments in my life were spent with humans." also her most blindingly painful, but again she decided not to mention that.
"It's a double-edged blade," Nymph said soberly, not bothering to explain what she meant by it.

"Then all your talk of shadows and loneliness being paradise - that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense now, Jiro. Not when you've just admitted that there's no such thing as true paradise."
Coda leaned back from the window to scratch behind her ear. The warm weather always made her itchy, like she just wanted to shed away her skin like a snake. Generally, though, she just settled for shedding the fur - it was much easier, and at least less fur girth made her feel a bit cooler. It wasn't much, but the breeze helped, too, and she could always dive into a body of water somewhere.
Heavens, Coda couldn't wait until winter. She thrived in winter. Her fur kept her warm, and she could usually find food in spite of the numbing of her senses caused by the cold... Actually, she'd usually found food via the humans in all her past winters - garbage cans, tossed trash, all that good stuff - but in a city without humans she should really learn the habits of all the prey animals and...
She realized that Nymph was talking, and nodded.
"Humans can be beneficial at times," Coda agreed. "My mother hated them, as I've said - and I've never liked their loudness, but they were wasteful, and a wasteful humans means for a good meal... Here, though, I suppose that theory is worthless..."
She suddenly made another disbelieving sort of scoff, turning to the Retriever, "And Jiro - why would the humans slaughter us? That's just ridiculous! We're dogs - not wild wolves or beast, but dogs. I bet you anything they'd try and adopt us or lock us up long before they slaughtered anything... Humans tend to have a soft spot for dogs, and if one human doesn't there are countless others that do. I've seen them - shouting all the time, carrying these great big signs on posts, and walking in circles outside the places where dogs went in but never came back out again. They were just as angry at the concept of humans stealing dogs away as actual dogs were."

Jiro would blink some as he had indeed made a mistake about paradise. He blinks more than snorts and looks away. "Yeah well.. Who asked you?!" muttering bad things under his breath before looking back. "That is 'if' They can cage us. Not all of us love the idea of being locked in a cage waiting for a human to take us home and then have them beat us and force us to live the way they want us to. Human are evil, and I'm glad that they are no longer here."
Jiro never liked Humans, tho some have saved his life before by giving him food, others have hurt him worse and tried to cage him. They usually drove in loud and big machines with "Dog Catcher" on the side of it. He didn't have to shed much anymore, always staying in the warm areas so his fur was already short where as in the winter it would get alot longer and more warmer for him.

Nymph shuddered. "Listen, hun," she said with an irritated tone "Both of you, actually. You don't know anything about cages. And let me tell you this: there's a huge difference between a cage with a blanket, and a cage without. If you find yourself in a cage with a lovely little rug, you're in a better place than you may think." She made a huffy sound and propped herself up to scratch an annoying parasitic insect from the wavy fur of her ear.
"In my glorious travels I recall learning that, like cages, there are two kinds of human. A) there's the kind, and caring type. The type you puts you in the comfy crate because the house is too full of other rescued dogs to let you out and B) the kind that kicks you in the head for walking on their perfect lawn. Of course there are sub-breeds to every species. Like retriever and shepherd, but that basically sums them up." unfortunately "B" was all too common. And from her infinitely growing bank of knowledge Nymph could pull out one too many examples of such cruelty. "I'll spare you the details." she added, deciding to keep up with her mysterious appearance.

Sighing, Coda stood up, "Regardless of specifics, the point is that humans aren't all out to slaughter us like a bad infestation."
She shook her head, ears flipping wildly, and looked back out the window with a serene expression. Coda wondered if Jiro was even able to change - his vehement rantings about the terrors of humans, dogs, and apparently sunlight, judging by his appearance, didn't seem to be losing steam at all. Sure, he'd started sounding desperate during his last speech, but he didn't seem to be running out of material to stubbornly adhere to and talk about.
It helped that there was another dog here who believed as little of what Jiro said as Coda herself did. Two against one generally ended in favour of the two, and no matter how stubborn Jiro continued to be in his conquest to bring everyone around him down into a dark depression, Coda could be just as stubborn in her conquest to shed a little light on the situation.

Nymph shrugged, slightly disappointed that her all-knowingness hadn't impressed the shepherd. "We are a bad infestation, in a way. I doubt they'd spray the streets with huge doses of bug killer, but some of the old scraggly ones end up in a humane society, and then being walked into a room they'll never walk out of." she shrugged again "But, that were only if humans were to come. They seem to give up rather quickly, and this place is past it's prime." Nymph wasn't actually entirely sure what that expression meant, but it seemed something along the lines of 'past the point in which it was worth something.'
Nymph watched the two with a glint in her eye. They were so cute. All stubborn. She wondered what had happened in their short lives to make them that way. Being that neither of them was even half her age the borderluki had to wonder. She hummed quietly to herself, waiting for Jiro's next defensive reply.

Jiro actually was running out of things to say, and wasn't going to change just like that magically, it would take time and hard work to get him to change, and the sooner she wanted him change the more hard work she needed to use. He would yawn some, flashing his fangs some before closing his maw and shaking his head some making his ears flop about. He was getting bored, for tho he had alot to talk about, it seemed it really didn't matter to him.
He was not used to being around others, so didn't know that laying down and resting while ignoring the other two mostly was an act of disrespect. He was just tired, after all he didn't even get to be here long before someone else wondered in. His defensive reply was a simple "What ever, you'll all see in the future when they come back." snorting and laying his head down on his arms. He didn't close his eyes or sleep, just rest while watching the other two
